Student Programs

Staff Contact - Silismar Suriel, Program Coordinator

The Center for Latino Arts and Culture sees itself as a partner to Latino student organizations in their efforts to promote the well-being of Latinos at Rutgers University and across the state of New Jersey. Through coordination with the Latino Student Council (LSC) and its member organizations, other Student Affairs units, and Rutgers academic programs and departments, the CLAC seeks to increase recruitment of Latino students to Rutgers and support their retention and successful graduation.

Toward this end, the CLAC provides logistical support and advising to many Latino student organizations, assisting them in developing the capacity and effectiveness they need to achieve their mission and better serve their members. Every year, the CLAC develops events and activities that target Latino students and support their academic, social, psychological well-being, as well as their professional growth.

The CLAC also co-sponsors student activities that raise awareness of Latino arts and culture among the Rutgers community. Through its Student Activities Allocation Program (SAAP), the Center provides funding to student organizations the increase knowledge and appreciation for Latino arts and culture while bridging multiple cultural communities.
