Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting

ALPFA is a not-for-profit entity registered with the Internal Revenue Service and is the proud successor of the American Association of Hispanic Certified Public Accountants (AAHCPA), the first national Latino professional association in the United States. Established in 1972, this Association continues to build upon our proud legacy of shared values and guiding principles. ALPFA advances into the 21st century as an experienced professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latinos in the accounting, finance and related professions. As a student chapter of this professional business association, we shall strive to participate in the professional chapter’s events, build professional relationships and network with other business students and corporate professionals. We welcome everyone with an interest in finance, accounting, economics, marketing, and related fields of business. Educational Opportunity Program Student Association (EOPSA)

The purpose of Educational Opportunity Program Student Association (EOPSA) shall be to serve as a liaison between the student body of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program and the staff; to act as the official representative of the EOF student body for the Rutgers University New Brunswick campus on a university and state level; to foster diversity and multiculturalism within the EOF student body and to serve as a legislative advocacy group for the EOF program. Furthermore, EOPSA shall provide leadership opportunities and seek to enrich student life for the EOF population through social and cultural activities. In addition the organization shall seek to cultivate academic enhancement among EOF students.

Society for Advancing Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science

The Society for Advancing Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is an organization dedicated to helping individuals succeed in the scientific filed by providing a support group and a plethora of opportunities to network, research, and meet scientific professionals. The main goals of SACNAS are to increase the number of minorities with science degrees. increase the number of minorities in the scientific professions, research, leadership positions and teaching careers, and increasing governmental commitment in helping minorities succeed in science.

This Rutgers Chapter will provide countless research opportunities, networking events, and constant moral support. We started as an official chapter Fall 2016 and were able to provide conference and travel funding to 10 Rutgers STEM students to attend the SACNAS National Conference in Long Beach, CA. Society of Hispanic Engineers

The Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHE) at Rutgers University was founded in 1984 by a group of Hispanic engineers who saw the need for an organization where Hispanic Engineering students could meet to address their cultural concerns. The Rutgers chapter was recognized as the first Society of Hispanic Professional Engineer (SHPE) chapter to be founded in the East Coast. The society was founded with the motto “recruit, retain, and graduate minority students majoring in engineering, math, or science.” In 1988 SHE became a recognized chapter of SHPE. The society is run according to the constitution established by our founding members and according to Rutgers and SHPE guidelines. We also have an advisor, Dr. Ilene Rosen, Ed. D., who ensure the society succeeds and follows all rules and regulations. An Executive Board composed of the President, External Vice President, Internal Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Chair Members run the society The purpose of this student organization is to unite and organize Hispanic and other minority students based on their needs, issues and concerns, and to promote professional as well as cultural awareness by means of social and intellectual interaction. More specifically, the society promotes the advancement of Hispanics and other minorities in engineering and other science-related fields.
